Collection: Butterfly Valves

At CEMATIC, we offer the most complete range of industrial butterfly valves in Mexico. In addition, we have models in ductile iron, carbon steel, 304 and 316 stainless steel, PVC, and anticorrosive materials with PTFE lining. Therefore, we have the right solution for any fluid and process condition. Available in wafer, lug, and hygienic clamp configurations, with EPDM, NBR, Viton, or Teflon seats. We also offer high-performance valves with double eccentricity for high pressure and temperature. Furthermore, all can be configured for manual operation via a lever or gear reducer, or automated with a pneumatic or electric actuator. Thanks to their compact design, they are ideal for medium and large diameter pipes. Stock available in Mexico City with nationwide shipping. Request a quote today!

Industrial Butterfly Valves — Manual and Automated

Butterfly valves are the most efficient solution for flow control in medium and large diameter industrial pipelines. At Cematic, we offer the most complete range on the Mexican market: from wafer and lug valves in cast iron or carbon steel, to versions in stainless steel, PVC, anticorrosive, and high-performance, available with manual operation via lever or gear reducer, or automated with pneumatic or electric actuators.

What is a butterfly valve and how does it work?

A butterfly valve controls the flow of fluids using a circular disc (the "obturator disc") mounted on a central shaft within the valve body. By rotating 90°, the disc moves from a fully open to a fully closed position, allowing for quick shut-off or efficient flow regulation. Its compact and lightweight design makes it ideal when space is limited and cost is a factor: they take up less space and weigh considerably less than gate or globe valves of the same diameter.

Types of butterfly valves available at Cematic

  • Cast Iron / Carbon Steel Wafer Butterfly: For general water, oil, and gas services at moderate pressures. Wafer-style mounting between flanges, economical and highly available.
  • Stainless Steel 304 / 316 Wafer Butterfly: Ideal for fluids with hygiene requirements or medium corrosion. Widely used in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Anticorrosive Butterfly (PFA / PTFE lined): Body internally coated with fluoropolymer, resistant to aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents. Preferred for the chemical and petrochemical industries.
  • High-Performance Butterfly (double and triple eccentric): Eccentric disc design that eliminates friction during closing, achieving longer service life, better sealing, and operation at high pressures and temperatures.
  • PVC Wafer Butterfly: For corrosive fluids or water in low-pressure systems where the weight and chemical resistance of the thermoplastic are critical.
  • Hygienic Butterfly (Clamp / Weldable): Complies with DIN / ISO sanitary standards for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. Polished internal surface, no product retention.
  • Lug Type Butterfly: Allows for removal of a pipeline section without affecting the opposite side. Recommended as an end-of-line valve.

Operation: Manual vs. Automated

All butterfly valves in our catalog can be configured according to the level of automation required by your process:

  • Lever: Direct manual operation, for diameters up to 6" in low-frequency maneuvering applications.
  • Gear Reducer: For large diameters (8" and up) where the operating torque exceeds the capacity of a lever.
  • Pneumatic Actuator: Fast actuation using compressed air, ideal for frequent cycles and ON/OFF or modulating control systems with a positioner.
  • Electric Actuator: For installations without air supply or where integration with SCADA, PLC, or 4-20 mA signal systems is required.

Industrial applications

Cematic butterfly valves are specified across a wide variety of sectors: potable water and wastewater treatment, chemical and petrochemical industries, power generation, mining, food and pharmaceutical industries, HVAC, and general manufacturing. Their versatility positions them as the most commonly used valve in Mexican industrial facilities.
