Brass High Pressure Solenoid Valve — 2/2 Way, Normally Closed, 0.5 to 40 bar
Cematic's high-pressure solenoid valve controls fluids in systems operating between 0.5 and 40 bar (7.2 to 580 psi). This range far exceeds that of standard solenoids, which are generally limited to 10 bar. Therefore, it is the correct component when fast and reliable ON/OFF control is needed in high-pressure lines.
Its direct electromagnetic actuation also opens and closes the line in milliseconds, without additional moving parts or pilot mechanisms. In addition, the brass body offers corrosion resistance for water, air, low-pressure steam, and industrial gases, at a significantly lower cost than stainless steel alternatives.
Operating Principle — 2/2 Direct Acting
This valve is direct-acting: the plunger is moved directly by the electromagnetic coil, without relying on the fluid's differential pressure. Consequently, it operates correctly with zero differential pressure and can even operate with flow in both directions within the specified range.
The 2/2 way Normally Closed configuration, on the other hand, means the valve remains closed when the coil is de-energized. When the coil is energized, therefore, the magnetic field lifts the plunger and opens the passage.
When de-energized, however, the spring automatically returns the plunger to the closed position. In this way, in the event of an electrical failure, the valve always remains closed — the standard safety state for most processes.
Construction Materials
The body is made of zinc-plated brass, making it compatible with potable water, process water, compressed air, dry industrial gases, and hydraulic oils. For aggressive fluids such as acids or chlorinated solvents, however, stainless steel solenoids should be consulted. The plunger, furthermore, is made of stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant and has optimized mass for quick response.
The seal is NBR, which is also compatible with water, air, and mineral hydraulic oils. Finally, the coil is encapsulated in epoxy resin with IP65 protection, making it suitable for humid environments and industrial dust.

Voltage Selection
The 24 VDC voltage is the standard in cabinets with PLC and DC power supply, making it the most common option in new installations and also the recommended safety voltage in areas with operators.
The 110 VAC voltage, on the other hand, is for installations in Mexico and the United States that already have 110 V circuits available in the field. Finally, the 220 VAC voltage is for panels with 220 V distribution or installations with European voltage standards.
Fluid Compatibility
This high-pressure solenoid valve is compatible with the most common fluids in industrial systems. The main ones are listed below:
- Compressed air — up to 40 bar; therefore, it is ideal for high-pressure pneumatic service and test systems
- Process water up to 90 °C — compatible with dosing and cutting in industrial lines; also, suitable for potable water at pressures above 10 bar
- Non-corrosive industrial gases — nitrogen, CO₂, argon, and air; additionally, check local regulations and area classification for LPG and natural gas
- Mineral hydraulic oils — low viscosity fluids compatible with NBR; however, verify maximum viscosity with the technical team
- ⚠️ Low-pressure steam — compatible up to 90 °C in the fluid; however, for higher temperatures, use a Viton seal
- ❌ Concentrated acids, chlorinated solvents, seawater — in these cases, use an SS316 solenoid with a Viton seal
Main Industrial Applications
High-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems
The working capacity up to 40 bar makes this high-pressure solenoid valve the standard option for hydraulic circuits and pneumatic systems where conventional 10 bar valves are not sufficient. Furthermore, its direct actuation guarantees response times in milliseconds, which is critical in high-frequency cycles.
Fluid dosing and control in process
In manufacturing plants, this solenoid valve controls the passage of liquids at points where the pressure exceeds what a standard solenoid can handle. Therefore, it allows automatic control to be integrated into existing lines without needing to reduce upstream pressure. Likewise, its immediate response ensures precision in each dosing cycle.
HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems
For the control of refrigerants and heat transfer fluids in high-pressure systems, this 40 bar solenoid also covers most industrial refrigerants. Consequently, it is the correct option when a stainless steel body is not required. In addition, the working pressure up to 40 bar exceeds the limit of standard solenoids on the market.
Testing systems and test benches
In hydraulic test benches and controlled pressurization systems, this solenoid valve functions as a trigger and shut-off element. Therefore, its fast response is essential in high-frequency test cycles. In this way, it guarantees the repeatability of each test cycle without variation in response time.
High-pressure technified agricultural irrigation
In irrigation systems with pressures above 10 bar, this solenoid valve allows zone automation from a PLC or timer. Consequently, it overcomes the limitation of standard agricultural solenoids. Likewise, it eliminates the need for additional pressure reducers in the line, thus simplifying installation.
