316 Stainless Steel Solenoid Valves for Industrial Processes

We offer 316 stainless steel solenoid valves for the automatic control of water, air, steam, and gases in industrial processes. In addition, their SS 316 body makes them corrosion-resistant and suitable for fluids where brass is not a viable option. For this reason, they are the preferred solution in industries that require higher hygiene, chemical resistance, or compatibility with aggressive fluids. All models are available for immediate delivery in Mexico.

Why choose 316 stainless steel over brass?

The difference between the two materials is significant. For example, brass is economical and sufficient for water and neutral gases at moderate temperatures. However, 316 stainless steel is essential when the fluid is corrosive, the temperature is high, or the process requires compliance with hygiene standards. Below, we explain the key advantages of SS 316:

  • Greater corrosion resistance: The molybdenum in its composition provides superior resistance to chlorides, acids, and aggressive fluids. For this reason, it is the recommended material in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries where brass would corrode or contaminate the fluid.
  • Suitable for high temperatures: It withstands higher operating temperatures than brass. Thanks to this, high-temperature models reach up to 180°C, making them suitable for steam and hot fluids in demanding industrial processes.
  • Compliant with hygiene regulations: 316 stainless steel meets food and pharmaceutical contact requirements. Additionally, its smooth surface makes it difficult for bacteria to accumulate. Therefore, it is the correct material for processes that must comply with FDA, GMP, or similar standards.
  • Greater durability in aggressive environments: It resists humid, saline, and chemical vapor environments. Likewise, its useful life is considerably longer than that of brass in demanding industrial applications. Therefore, although its initial cost is higher, it represents a more efficient long-term investment.

Available models: direct acting

Below, we present the direct-acting models available in this collection. Additionally, all operate from zero pressure, so they do not require a minimum line pressure to function. Therefore, they are the most versatile for installations with low or variable flow:

  • Direct Acting NC Solenoid — High Flow and High Temperature: Remains closed without power and opens when the coil is energized. In addition, its high-flow design allows it to handle higher flow rates than standard models. For this reason, it is ideal for hot water systems, low-pressure steam, and fluids at elevated temperatures. It also operates up to 180°C with a Viton seal.
  • Direct Acting NO Solenoid — High Flow and High Temperature: Remains open without power and closes when the coil is energized. Therefore, it is the correct option when the flow must remain active by default. Thanks to its high-flow design, it handles high flow rates without significant pressure loss. Likewise, it is ideal for continuous supply systems that are only interrupted under specific conditions.

Available models: pilot operated and special versions

In addition to direct models, we have pilot-operated and explosion-proof versions for more demanding applications. Therefore, if your process handles high flow rates or operates in hazardous areas, you will find the right option below:

  • Pilot Operated NC Solenoid — High Flow and High Temperature: Uses the fluid's own pressure to assist opening. Thanks to this, it handles considerably higher flow rates with a lower power coil. For this reason, it is the recommended option for larger diameter systems with high-temperature fluids. However, it requires a minimum differential pressure in the line to operate correctly.
  • Pilot Operated NC Solenoid — Standard High Flow: It is similar to the previous model, but designed for standard temperature fluids. In addition, its high flow makes it ideal for water distribution systems, compressed air, and neutral gases in medium and large flow industrial installations. Therefore, it is one of the most economical options among pilot-operated stainless steel models.
  • Explosion-Proof Stainless Steel NC Solenoid: It is certified for operation in areas with explosive or flammable atmospheres. For this reason, it is the required option in the oil, petrochemical, chemical, and gas industries where standard models are not suitable. In addition, its 316 stainless steel body ensures corrosion resistance in aggressive environments. Likewise, it is the perfect combination of safety and durability for the most demanding applications.

General technical specifications

All models in this collection share technical characteristics that facilitate their selection and installation. For example, the available voltages and connections cover most industrial applications in Mexico. Below are the most important specifications:

  • Body material: 316 stainless steel (SS 316). Therefore, it offers high corrosion resistance and compatibility with aggressive fluids.
  • Available seals: NBR for water, air, and neutral fluids. Also, Viton for high-temperature fluids, oils, and low-aggressiveness solvents.
  • Available voltages: 24V DC, 110V AC, and 220V AC. In addition, they are compatible with most industrial electrical control systems in Mexico.
  • Connections: NPT thread from 1/4" to 1". Therefore, installation is direct in standard piping without the need for additional adapters.
  • Maximum operating temperature: Up to 180°C in high-temperature models with Viton seal. Also, standard models with NBR seals operate up to moderate temperatures.
  • Ex-Proof Certification: Available in the explosion-proof model. Finally, it complies with international regulations for areas classified as hazardous.

Applications by industry

Our stainless steel solenoid valves are used in a wide variety of sectors. For example, they are the preferred option in processes where corrosion resistance or hygiene standards prevent the use of brass. Likewise, their availability in an Ex-Proof version extends their use to high-risk environments:

  • Food and beverage industry: For automatic fluid control in production lines, filling, and CIP cleaning. For this reason, the SS 316 body and food-contact-approved seals are essential in this sector.
  • Pharmaceutical industry: For sterile processes, purified water, and dosing systems. In addition, 316 stainless steel complies with the requirements of GMP and FDA regulations. Therefore, it is the required material in this sector.
  • Chemical industry: For handling dilute acids, alkalis, and moderately corrosive fluids. Likewise, models with Viton seals extend chemical compatibility against solvents and aggressive fluids.
  • Oil, gas, and petrochemicals: For fluid control in areas with explosive atmospheres. For this reason, the explosion-proof model with an SS 316 body is the required option in this sector to comply with safety regulations.
  • Water and effluent treatment: For automatic control in water treatment plants and chemical dosing systems. In addition, the corrosion resistance of SS 316 ensures a longer service life compared to brass in the presence of chlorinated water or aggressive minerals.
  • Manufacturing and general industry: For compressed air systems, water, and industrial fluids where greater durability is required. Finally, direct NC models are the most used due to their low energy consumption and fast response.
