Butterfly Valves for Automation with Electric or Pneumatic Actuator

We offer butterfly valves for automating flow control in industrial processes. All of them feature an ISO 5211 mounting, allowing them to directly connect electric or pneumatic actuators without adapters. Furthermore, we deliver them assembled, calibrated, and tested. Therefore, you don't need to make adjustments during installation.

What makes these butterfly valves special?

The key lies in their automation-oriented design. Thanks to the ISO 5211 mounting, any compatible actuator can be coupled in minutes without modifying the valve. Therefore, you can install the electric or pneumatic actuator that best suits your process without complications. Additionally, as they are assembled and tested in the workshop, commissioning time is significantly reduced. That's why they are the preferred option when installation time is critical.

Available materials: iron, steel, and corrosion-resistant

Below are the main materials available in this collection. Furthermore, each material is recommended for a specific type of fluid and process condition, so it is important to choose the correct one:

  • Ductile Iron and Carbon Steel (WCB): These are the most economical and widely available materials. Therefore, they are ideal for general water, oil, and gas services at moderate pressures. Additionally, their robustness makes them resistant to mechanical wear in demanding industrial conditions.
  • Stainless Steel 304 and 316: These are ideal for fluids with hygiene requirements or corrosion resistance. Furthermore, grade 316 offers greater resistance to chlorides and acids thanks to the molybdenum in its composition. Therefore, they are the right choice when iron is not acceptable in the process.
  • Corrosion-resistant with PTFE lining: The body is internally lined with fluoropolymer, making it resistant to aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents. Likewise, it is the preferred option in the chemical and petrochemical industry where fluids are highly corrosive.
  • PVC: It is lightweight and highly resistant to chemical corrosion. Therefore, it is ideal for corrosive fluids or water in low-pressure systems where the weight of the thermoplastic is an advantage over metal.

Available materials: hygienic and high-performance versions

In addition to standard materials, we have special versions for more demanding applications. Therefore, if your process requires certified hygiene, high pressure, or installation as an end-of-line valve, you will find the right option below:

  • Hygienic Clamp in Stainless Steel 316L: Complies with DIN and ISO sanitary standards for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. Furthermore, its polished interior surface prevents product retention. Therefore, it is suitable for CIP and SIP processes with aggressive cleaning agents.
  • High-Performance double eccentric: Its eccentric disc eliminates friction during closing. Thanks to this, it achieves a longer service life, better sealing, and reliable operation at high pressures and temperatures. Additionally, it is available in Class 150, 300, and 600 in stainless steel 316 and carbon steel WCB.
  • Lug Type: Unlike the wafer version, it allows one side of the pipeline to be disassembled without affecting the opposite side. Therefore, it is the recommended option as an end-of-line valve in systems requiring frequent maintenance. Likewise, it is available in ANSI 150 and DIN standards.

Available seats: which to choose according to your fluid?

The seat ensures a tight seal when the valve is closed. Therefore, choosing the correct material is as important as choosing the body. Below, we explain the differences between the available seats so you can make the best decision:

  • EPDM: This is the most common seat for drinking water, hot water, and low-pressure steam. Additionally, it withstands temperatures up to 150°C. However, it is not compatible with hydrocarbons or mineral oils.
  • NBR (Nitrile): It is ideal for mineral oils, fuels, and petroleum-based fluids. Therefore, it is the recommended option in the automotive and general manufacturing industries. However, it is not suitable for hot water or steam.
  • Viton (FKM): Offers the highest chemical resistance among available elastomers. Therefore, it is the preferred seat for acids, aromatic solvents, and hydrocarbons at elevated temperatures. Additionally, it withstands temperatures up to 200°C.
  • PTFE (Teflon): It is chemically inert to almost all fluids, including concentrated acids and strong alkalis. Likewise, it complies with FDA food contact regulations. Therefore, it is the most versatile option for demanding chemical and sanitary applications.

Actuator type: electric vs. pneumatic

All our butterfly valves for automation are compatible with both types of actuators. Therefore, below we show you the key differences so you can choose the best option according to your process and available infrastructure:

  • Pneumatic Actuator: Operates with compressed air and offers a very fast response. Therefore, it is ideal for frequent cycles and processes that require quick opening and closing. Additionally, it is the safest option in explosive environments, as it does not generate electrical sparks. Likewise, it is available in single-acting and double-acting depending on the required safety logic.
  • ON-OFF Electric Actuator: Operates with electrical energy and does not require a compressed air network. Therefore, it is the best option when pneumatic infrastructure is not available. Additionally, it allows direct integration with PLC and SCADA systems for remote control and real-time monitoring.
  • Modulating Electric Actuator (4-20 mA): Allows positioning the valve at any point between open and closed. Thanks to this, it regulates flow with great precision without the need for an external positioner. Therefore, it is the ideal solution for PID control loops and processes that require continuous flow adjustment.

Applications by industry

Our butterfly valves for automation are used in a wide variety of industrial sectors. For example, they are common in any process where large volumes of fluid need to be controlled automatically and reliably. Likewise, their versatility in materials and actuators makes them the most widely used valve in the Mexican industry:

  • Drinking water and wastewater treatment: For automatic flow control in water treatment plants and pumping stations. Therefore, we recommend ductile iron or stainless steel models with EPDM seats and single-acting pneumatic actuators.
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry: For the automated handling of aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents. Therefore, we recommend corrosion-resistant versions with PTFE lining or 316 stainless steel bodies with Viton seats.
  • Food, beverage, and pharmaceutical: For sanitary processes with CIP and SIP cleaning requirements. Likewise, hygienic clamp models in 316L stainless steel with pneumatic or electric actuators comply with DIN, ISO, and FDA standards.
  • Power generation and mining: For high-pressure and high-temperature systems where a reliable tight seal is required. In this case, we recommend High-Performance double eccentric models with a modulating electric actuator for precise flow control.
  • HVAC and general manufacturing: For automatic control of water, steam, and air in HVAC installations and general industry. Additionally, their compact design and low installation cost make them the most efficient option in this sector.
